I’m walking the Avon Walk again this year and I’m hoping you can help me. This will be my third time walking, and I’m going to be joined by my mom, aunt, and sister. We’ll walk 39.3 miles in two days, 26.2 the first, and 13.1 the second.
The first time I did the Avon Walk, I was amazed by the women I saw walking and the strength that they showed. I felt exhausted and totally done around mile 10. I’d hit my wall and couldn’t seem to get passed it. Then I saw a sign that someone had put up for encouragement. It stated “You are walking for someone who can’t.” That simple statement struck a chord. And while I will be thinking of those women, the ones who are too sick to do the walk this year, and the ones who aren’t here anymore, this year I’m also walking for those women who will have to fight this disease in the future.
Avon Walk raises money for research to find a cure, but it also helps to fund programs that enable patients to care. That means the single mom without healthcare will be able to get a mammogram, or the family who are alone and scared in the hospital have access to counseling. Breast cancer claims a life every 13 minutes. Everyone is affected by disease - you know someone who has had to fight this cancer, or lost a loved one to it.
My goal is to raise $1,800.00. Can you help? Every little bit helps!
The Avon Foundation is determined to end this disease, and I’m going to do what I can to help.

Holy crap. Just hit a wall. HARD. Don’t feel really great and I just want to sleep. One more hour and then I’m done.
